Consolacion college admits enrollees

CEBU, Philippines - Despite the lack of a permit to operate from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), there was no stopping 600 "pioneering" students from enrolling at the Consolacion Community College.

Consolacion municipal administrator Jerson Marano said the students enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Information Technology, and Hotel and Restaurant Management, among others.

The Consolacion Community College, which operates a three-story school building in barangay Gansaga, has been embroiled in controversy because it still has to gain a permit from the CHED-Regional Office.

Marano said the government is working on the problem citing that all necessary documents are already in order.

"Hingpit naman ang paghikay sa tanan nga gikinahanglan," Marano said.

Dr. Lolita Rodriguez was the president of the school, which she will be assisted by Dr. Macepina Aguisanda.

According to Rodriguez, the students would have no difficulty in paying tuition since a unit would cost P100 only. – THE FREEMAN
