Suspect Uses Toy Gun To Rob Taxi Driver: American held for robbery, carnapping

MANILA, Philippines - An American national was arrested after he was accused of robbing a taxi driver with his earnings and his cab last Sunday evening at the Cebu Business Park in Barangay Hipodromo.

Albert Tresban, 59, of Denver Colorado, commandeered the Emmanuel Taxi from Conrado Asabrosa and took his almost P2,000 earnings for that day as well.

Tresban took the cab from Barangay Banilad and asked Asabrosa to take him to Barangay Guadalupe where he is allegedly residing for three years now. However, upon reaching Barangay Hipodromo the suspect poked a gun at Asabrosa and declared a hold-up.

Asabrosa said that the suspect, who was sitting beside him at the front seat, warned him not to make any noise. He was allegedly ordered to get out of the vehicle but when he insisted to park the cab first the suspect pushed him out hitting his head on the window glass.

Tresban then took over the wheels, waved goodbye at the driver and sped off. Asabrosa said he immediately sought the assistance of the security guards who then called for police assistance.

Members of the Mobile Patrol Group intercepted the suspect on Arlington Pond Street few minutes later and placed him arrest. The police recovered from Tresban a toy gun which he apparently used to declare a hold-up and a P500 bill.

The suspect allegedly refused to give information about him when asked by the police. He was allegedly telling the police that he “has the right to remain silent according to the Philippine Constitution.”

He will be charged for robbery with carnapping before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.  (FREEMAN NEWS)
