CEBU, Philippines - A 49-year-old woman was shot dead the other day in what police suspect to be a drug-related killing in sitio Saac I, barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City.
Laura Alegres sustained three gunshot wounds on her body while her companion Lucricia Tero, 39, all residents of sitio Soong, barangay Mactan, was taken to hospital after sustaining a wound on her stomach.
Initial police investigation conducted by Crime Against Person PO1 Maximo Villagonzalo Jr. said two motorcycle riding men, one armed with .45 caliber pistol, followed the women from city hall to barangay Mactan.
Upon reaching sitio Saac I, the women were shot.
The women were taken to Mactan Doctors’ Hospital but Alegres might have died on the way.
Police said Alegres was previously arrested for illegal drugs.
Villagonzalo said Alegres’ relatives are not cooperating in the investigation and waived their rights for autopsy.
Meanwhile, another shooting incident occurred in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday. Villagonzalo Jr. of the Crime Against Person desk of the Lapu-Lapu City Police has not determined behind the killing of a still unidentified man who was shot dead near the Mactan Barangay Hall.
Villagonzalo described the man to be between 20 to 25 years old. He said the man was standing near the barangay hall when suddenly shot at by a still unidentified man.
“Ang biktima kay nagbarog ra sa dalan dihang giduol kini sa wala pa mailhing tao,” Villagonzalo said.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds on the body. The gun used was a .45 caliber, police said.
In sitio Kagudoy, barangay Basak, a young man was shot dead while his companion sustained gunshot wounds.
Albert Cabalhug, 16, and Michael Tampus, 24, were talking to each other when shot at a certain Ares.
“Nag lingkod ra man ang mga biktima sa maong dapit kay nagpahayahay unya kalit lang miduol ang suspetsado ug walay daghang istorya unya kalit kining gipusil ang mga biktima,” the report said.
Cabalhug sustained gunshot wounds on back of his body while Tampus was hit on the head which caused his instant death. (FREEMAN NEWS)
