Town mayor want more tourism push

CEBU, Philippines - Aloguinsan and Badian Island are now being promoted as two of the province’s primary tourist destinations.

In a forum conducted yesterday, marketing experts discussed the need of endorsing Cebu tourism to other countries.

According to Aloguinsan Mayor Cynthia Moreno, in promoting tourism, people should be organized, empowered, mobilized, and taught how to maintain the tourist spots.

She added that tourism should bring an alternative means of living to the townsfolk.

Moreno explained that 40 percent of the European population wants to visit Aloguinsan that is why they need to develop the town as a tourist destination.

Badian Island executive manager Ryan Armadilla said they are looking at the health and wellness program in a way that they have their own organic garden and have produce beauty products from it.

He said that Cebu has a lot to offer such as local dive spots, medical and dental services, and wonderful beaches that can attract more tourists. – Chessa Elaine Antipuesto and Abigail Libo-on (THE FREEMAN)
