Alleged Crips member dies in shootout

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged member of Crips gang died at a shootout with alleged members of rival gang Bloods in Barangay Mabolo past 1am yesterday.

The victim, Jordan Morales, estimated to be 17 to 19 years old, was in a drinking spree with his friends along J. Luna Street near Pier 6 when a group of men arrived and opened fire at them.

Morales’ group then returned fire and, after a few minutes of shootout, Morales slumped to the ground when a bullet hit his left chest.

Police later found Morales lying on his own blood, a home-made .357 magnum revolver in hand. Members of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation brought to the Cebu City Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the crime scene, police also recovered five empty shells of a .38 caliber revolver and live ammunition still inside the cylinder.

Morales’ last known address was in front of Makro in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

The shootout is the latest of several gang-related incidents in city for the past few months. Police records show that gang -related incidents continue to increase every year. - Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
