ANAD to reveal names of bets allied with NPAs

CEBU, Philippines - The Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy Partylist is closely monitoring and identifying candidates seeking local and national positions who are allegedly supporters or are funded by the communist New People’s Army NPA.

ANAD Partylist Rep. Pastor Alcover Jr. said the names of these candidates will be made available to the public after the May 10 elections.

However, Alcover said that Cebu is different compared to other provinces because of the full support of Governor Gwen Garcia to their campaign against insurgents.

He added that so far, they have not identified any candidate in Cebu who supports or gets funding from the communist rebels.

“Lahi man gud dinhi sa ato sa probinsya sa Sugbo, kay si Gobernador Garcia mihatag gayud sa grabeng suporta sa atong kawsa,” said Alcover, adding that this also encouraged the other local officials to support their campaign.

“Nakita man gud nila nga mipaluyo ang gobernador nato, mao nga sila mipaluyo usab kanato,” he added.

Like retired general Jovito Palparan, Alcover said they actively involved the local officials in their campaign against the insurgency and they are campaigning to strengthen it further at the barangay level.

According to him, barangay captains and other barangay officials should be given a monthly salary and other compensation to become effective in the campaign. He believes that once barangay officials are given higher salaries, will become effective in the campaign to promote peace and order, especially in combating insurgency.

He also wants to give barangay tanods not just an honorarium but also a monthly salary as they are at the frontline of defense in every barangays. — Jose P. Sollano/WAB   FREEMAN NEWS)
