CEBU, Philippines - A farmer got injured after the gun he was cleaning the other night slipped off his hands, went off, and hit him on the head.
Gregorio Jore Roto, 48 years old, of barangay Sandayong Sur in Danao City sustained a gunshot wound to his head after the gun accidentally fired while he was cleaning it.
He was rushed to the Danao District Hospital but was transferred to a hospital here in Cebu City.
Police initial investigation revealed that the victim was cleaning his .38 caliber revolver inside his house last Monday evening when suddenly the gun slipped off his hands and fell on the floor.
Roto bent over to pick it up but the gun went off hitting him on the head.
His wife Virginia who witnessed the accident sought help from their neighbors to have her husband taken to the hospital.
Virginia turned over the gun to the barangay captain of Sandayong Sur.
Police are still investigating of any foul play in the incident and on whether the farmer is licensed to possess the said firearm. – Gabriel C. Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
