CEBU, Philippines - Unidentified men reportedly broke into the stockroom at the basement of a house owned by an Italian national in Poblacion, municipality of Carmen.
Virginia Caputulan, caretaker of the house, reported the incident which happened the other day to the Carmen police officers after learning that some belongings of Italian national Renato Agusti were lost.
The burglars allegedly entered into the stockroom and carted away five lawnmowers, two compressors, a chainsaw, 20 pieces galvanized iron pipes, and other unaccounted items.
Initial investigation of the Carmen Police revealed that the thieves gained entry by destroying the padlock of the stockroom.
Police investigators are now conducting an in-depth probe into the incident to find out as to what other items were lost, how much these cost, as well as to establish the identities of the burglars.
Still in Poblacion, Carmen town, a 26-year-old man was shot dead there by unidentified gunmen the other night.
Alberto Perez, single, and resident of the said place, succumbed to the several gunshot wounds he sustained in various parts of his body.
Initial investigation conducted by the Carmen policemen revealed that the victim was just sitting on a bench at a nearby store when two men wearing bonnets, appeared from behind him, approached him and shot him in close range for no apparent reason.
The gunmen hurried towards a companion riding a motorcycle, jumped onboard the said vehicle, sped and were nowhere to be found.
Responding policemen recovered six empty shells and a live bullet from the crime scene.
