CEBU, Philippines - This has nothing to do with the immortal tale of pursuing the “golden arinola” but a plastic pot meant to hold urine pushed a robber to claim the life of its owner.
A 65-year-old grandmother was stabbed dead by a lone robber who took the sales of the store the old woman was tending past 7 p.m. the other day in Purok 4, barangay Cambinocot, Cebu City.
Anita Bontilao Auman, a sari-sari store vendor, was found dead by her 12-year-old grandson with multiple stab wounds on the different parts of her body.
The unidentified crook was described to be wearing a brown jacket and that his face was covered with a dark cloth.
As alleged by the boy, he was preparing meal outside of the store tended by his grandma when he noticed a man, armed with a knife, leaving the store in a hurry and bringing with him the plastic “arinola” which was used by the woman in holding the cash proceeds of the variety store.
Alarmed, he stormed into the store and saw his grandmother sprawled on a pool of blood.
He said he then called his uncle, a nephew of the victim, who rushed her onboard his vehicle to the North General Hospital but the victim was pronounced dead there.
The body was taken to the St. Peter Memorial Chapel for autopsy while a pursuit operation is now being conducted against the assailant. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (FREEMAN NEWS)
