CEBU, Philippines - Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 7 swooped down on a KTV bar in barangay Pajo, Lapulapu City evening last Wednesday and rescued at least 15 women working as guest relations officers.
The operation was launched after CIDG received a report from a concerned citizen that the KTV bar was allegedly exploiting its female employees sexually by making them engage in sexual acts with the club’s customers in exchange for money.
A team headed by Sr. Insp. Ricky Neron then conducted surveillance on Frolics Bar and Grill located at M. Patalinghug Avenue at 10pm on Wednesday with PO3 Arnold Bocayong masquerading as customer.
More than four hours later, at about 1:30 am, Bocayong handed over P1,500 to one of the GRO’s and subsequently sent a signal to the team waiting outside the bar.
The team rescued 15 GRO’s, all of legal age, but the bar’s owner, a certain Teresita Calzada, was not around during the raid. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
