CEBU, Philippines - Will reconciliation between Mayor Tomas Osmeña and former Senator John Henry “Sonny” Osmeña truly see the light of day?
In an interview with The FREEMAN, the former Senator hinted skepticism on the supposed reconciliation, saying it seems reconciliation would still lead to nowhere.
“Will he now support me for city mayor? What about Vice Mayor Mike Rama who is the BOPK candidate for mayor?” he said.
Sought for comment, Mayor Osmeña said he will not in any way abandon Rama.
“I am not going to abandon my own allies,” the mayor said.
BO-PK or Bando Osmeña- Pundok Kauswagan is fielding Rama for mayor and City Hall education consultant Augustus “Joy” Young for vice mayor in next year’s polls.
The former senator, on the other hand, also expressed his intention to run for mayor of Cebu City and visited the Commission on Elections recently to inquire about the transfer of registration.
Sonny is currently a registered voter in Toledo City, his hometown. He is the chairman of Panaghiusa, the opposition bloc of Cebu, which is supporting the tandem of Senators Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Manuel “Mar” Roxas for president and vice president.
BOPK also announced its support for the Noy-Mar tandem. —Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
