Car watcher shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A 27-year-old man was shot dead by a still unidentified suspect past 3am yesterday outside a KTV bar along Sanciangko Street in barangay Kalubihan.

Police identified the victim as Ryan Roma, 27, single, a native of Poblacion, Sibonga town. He was residing temporarily in barangay San Roque where he worked as a car watcher.

Investigation showed that shortly before the shooting, the victim and his friends Jerry Arcilla, 42, and Dexter Flores, 17, went into the KTV bar. Roma later went out and gunshots were heard.

Arcilla and Flores told the police they only learned of the shooting when someone told them that their companion had been shot outside the bar.

Marcelo Andahaw, 30, a pedicab driver, told authorities he saw the suspect flee towards Pelaez Street after the victim slumped to the ground. He reportedly heard three gunshots before he saw Roma fall.

Andahaw took the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center on board his pedicab, but the victim died an hour later. Roma sustained gunshot wounds on his head and right hand.

Investigation is ongoing to identify the gunman. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
