CEBU, Philippines - The 17-year-old boy who stabbed dead a woman during an alleged robbery last Sunday night in Sitio Ipil, Barangay San Nicolas was charged yesterday before the city prosecutor’s office after it was found that he “acted with discernment” when he did the crime.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7, in its evaluation report, said the minor suspect aware of what he was doing when he killed the victim, Charlita Palao Ferolino, 30, a sales supervisor of a mall in the city’s downtown area.
Ferolino, a resident of the place, has allegedly just alighted from a passenger jeepney and was walking on her way home, when the suspect stabbed her after robbing her of her P120 cash.
PO3 Edario Manatad of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office said that a charge for robbery with homicide was filed against the suspect yesterday.
The minor will be detained at the Operation Second Chance center in Barangay Kalunasan, Manatad added.
The suspect was reportedly mad at his mother that he vented his ire on Ferolino, who he stabbed on the shoulder after taking her money.
The victim was bringing with her some goodies for her one-year-old son but she did not make it home alive because of the incident. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
