Two men stabbed by construction workers

CEBU, Philippines - Two men landed at the Cebu City Medical Center after they figured in separate stabbing incidents in the city the other night, both perpetrated by construction workers.

The first incident happened past 7pm in barangay Lorega San Miguel when two construction workers stabbed Orly Booyaham, 32, in the middle of an argument. The suspects remain unidentified but a witness said one of the two appeared to be a minor.

A witness told the people the argument was borne out of a personal grudge. At the height of the argument, one of the suspects pulled out a sharp pointed weapon off his waist and stabbed Booyaham.

Booyaham was hit on his back but managed to run away before the other suspect could “finish him off.” The victim is a resident of the barangay.

The second incident happened about five hours later when Marion Castro, 30, a resident of barangay Kinabjanga, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, was stabbed by former construction workers while on his way towards a construction site along Archbishop Reyes street.

Castro, a stay-in worker of Young Builders, was walking under the flyover near the Cebu Business Park when he was waylaid by two unidentified men he only knew as former construction workers who stabbed him on the left side of his body. The perpetrators immediately fled afterwards.

PO2 Dario Manatad said that they will conduct a follow-up investigation on both incidents today. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
