"Armed men" seen in Tabunan

CEBU, Philippines - Police operatives from the Cebu City Mobile Group and Special Weapons and Tactics rushed to the mountain barangay of Tabunan last Friday night after receiving a report on alleged armed group of men in the area.

The CCMG led by Sr. Insp. Fabio Cedeño, Jr., on board Triton Mobile and Nissan Car 023, backed up by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics led by SPO2 Edmundo Capangpangan responded to Sitio Enad in the same barangay at past 9 p.m.

Retired policeman Nanding Singson, formerly assigned at CCMG, informed through telephone about the “sightings” of armed men in the area.

However, when the team arrived there, the alleged armed group was no longer in the vicinity.

During an investigation, residents disclosed that the armed men seen in the area were on camouflage clothes and slippers, and carrying with them long firearms. They were reportedly seen during night time.

Elpidio Narra, barangay councilor of Tabunan and chairman of the Peace and Order council, also confirmed the report.

Tabunan is a mountain barangay that is located at the boundary of Balamban and Cebu City.

But the responding team returned to the city proper three hours later with no untoward incident happened. —Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
