"Task Force Colon" launched

CEBU, Philippines - As one of the solutions to the increasing crimes in the city’s downtown area, the Cebu City Police Office yesterday formally launched “Task Force Colon” in front of Metro Gaisano on Colon Street.

CCPO director Patrocinio Comendador said that in order to lessen the petty crimes happening on Colon, they have came up with the idea to deploy more police officers in the area.

In fact, since Monday, he said the task force has already arrested four snatchers in the said area.

The city police director added that they are about to put up five police outposts in the long stretch of Colon to make sure that police personnel would not leave their respective jurisdictions and they could respond to alarms immediately.

But Comendador said they still have to get the crime map and the crime clock to modify the task force, which will serve and maintain peace and order situation in the area for 24 hours a day.

Sto. Niño barangay captain Pancho Ramirez said that the project is a big help to them and to the public. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/WAB    (THE FREEMAN)
