1,525 marijuana stalks uprooted in Badian

CEBU, Philippines - Another operation in line with the provincial government’s all-out war against illegal drugs was carried out which resulted to the arrest of a marijuana cultivator and the uprooting of 1,175 fully grown marijuana plants and 350 newly planted ones.

Around a month after two major operations were carried out in Balamban, authorities, this time led by Insp. Reynaldo Rodriguez who is the chief of the Badian Police Station, were able to arrest the other day a farmer identified as Casiano Cabungcag, 56 years old.

Cabungcag, a resident of sitio Basang Pangpang in barangay Candiis of Badian town, was arrested after Rodriguez and his team received information regarding a marijuana plantation in the said barangay.

Rodriguez said that they caught Cabungcag in the act of cultivating the marijuana plants.

The uprooted stalks were then submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/MEEV   (THE FREEMAN)
