Deadline of application for absentee voting reset

CEBU, Philippines – Instead of November 30 2009, the Commission on Elections has announced that the deadline for the filing of applications for transfer of absentee voters will be on September 30 this year.

The deadline has been made earlier to ensure that the records of absentee voters who wish to register in the country will reach their places, and in order that these registrations would be finished ahead of the regular registrations.

Provincial election officer Lionel Marco Castilliano said that the records of absentee voters would still come from the Committee of Overseas Absentee Voting of the Comelec.

Meanwhile, the provincial election office announced the next satellite registrations in the province.

Registrations that are scheduled this month are June 22 in barangay Lunop, Boljoon; June 23 in barangay Jaclopan, Talisay City and barangay Campo 8, Minglanilla; June 24 and 25 in barangay Campo 7 in Minglanilla; and June 26 in barangay Nangka in Boljoon.

These satellite registrations are aimed at giving convenience to applicants in far-flung barangays.
