CEBU, Philippines - A man died on the spot after three motorcycle-riding men peppered him with bullets past 8pm the other day in barangay Sto. Niño, Toledo City.
Police identified the fatality as Daniel Olasiman, 33, single, reportedly an appliance technician. Olasiman was also a resident of barangay Sto. Niño.
Investigation revealed that Olasiman was standing at a waiting shed near his residence when the bonnet-wearing assailants appeared, their faces covered by the headgear. Except for the one driving the motorcycle, two suspects disembarked and fired at Olasiman.
Olasiman still reportedly managed to run a few meters after he was shot three times but the assailants allegedly chased him and finished him off, something that investigators said proves the suspects really intended to kill the victim.
Olasiman was declared dead on arrival at the Balamban District Hospital. He sustained five gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.
Seven empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol and six deformed slugs were recovered from the crime scene.
PO3 Thule Tahadlangit said the motive of the killing is yet to be determined.
Tahadlangit said Olasiman’s parents were shocked by what happened to their son, as Olasiman reportedly never had enemies in their place.
A relative, however, believes someone might have a personal grudge against Olasiman on the manner by which the victim had dispatched tricycles in the barangay.
Tahadlangit said that prior to the incident, witnesses reportedly noticed a man on a motorcycle frequently passing the area and pretended to watch basketball games then subsequently head off towards Balamban town. - Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
