CEBU, Philippines – The family of a detainee accused four personnel of the Philippine National Police of mauling him inside the San Nicolas Police Station last Good Friday.
In a report over TV Patrol Central Visayas, the Ortiz family said that Glenn Ortiz, who was arrested for violence against women and children, was allegedly mauled last Friday and that this was witnessed by his sister Cherry.
Also, despite Glenn's plea to be allowed to undergo a medical examination, the desk officer reportedly refused to grant the said request.
The police officers involved are SPO1 Elmer Abelgar, PO2 Marvin Sanson, PO2 Eric Ricardel, and PO2 Ricafort Sangang.
However, Police Insp. Elezar Abregana, deputy chief of the said station, defended his men by denying the allegation. Abregana pointed out that Glenn was drunk that time and was throwing fits inside the police station.
“Ang dinakpan nagmaoy su’d sa police station,” Abregana told TV Patrol.
The Ortiz family is set to file an administrative complaint against the four policemen before the anti-graft office. – Ramil V. Ayuman/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
