Guard charged for frustrated homicide

CEBU, Philippines – A man has been charged with frustrated homicide before the Regional Trial Court on Friday for stabbing his neighbor last February 17 in Cebu City.

Security guard Arnold Batoto was accused of allegedly attacking a certain Jeffrey Alferez.

The attempted homicide complaint was filed by Jeryl Alferez, the brother of Jeffrey who witnessed the stabbing incident. He said in his affidavit that he witnessed how his brother was repeatedly stabbed by the suspect.

Arresting Officer SPO3 Joselito Pardillo of the Punta Princesa police station said that they received the report on the incident shortly after Alferez was stabbed.

They went to the house of Batoto, in barangay Quiot Pardo, but the suspect was not there. He was found in his mother’s house and he surrendered to the police immediately.

When asked where he placed the knife, Batoto claimed that he could not remember.
