CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office indicted a man for murder after finding probable cause against him for the death of a disco goer in Minglanilla during the town’s New Year’s Eve party this year.
Associate prosecution attorney Ryan Gingoyon found probable cause to charge Ciano Larriego, Jr. with murder for the death of Joel Montecillo last January 1 at 2 a.m. A witness, Jason Pabon, tagged Larriego as the one who stabbed Montecillo after a commotion in the disco.
Pabon said they first noticed a commotion between Larriego and Montecillo but were immediately pacified by their respective groups.
Montecillo and his group allegedly left the disco, which was held at the Minglanilla Sports Complex, to avoid trouble but Larriego’s group followed them.
Larriego allegedly suddenly attacked Montecillo using a pointed instrument wrapped with a handkerchief hitting the victim to his neck that caused his instantaneous death. — Fred P. Languido/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
