Rama eyes transfer of Cebu City Medical Center morgue

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City acting mayor Michael Rama is seeking for the immediate transfer of the Cebu City Medical Center morgue to other location.

Rama said this move will contribute to the goal of addressing two most important issues of the hospital to improve its services.

The transfer of the morgue is one of the recommendations made after Rama and several city monitoring personnel visited CCMC yesterday.

Rama said that he is happy to see improvements in the cleanliness and orderliness of the city hospital after he pushed for the implementation of its rehabilitations and modifications in certain areas.

He said that compared to his last visit, cleanliness in the whole area is now more obvious. The pediatric ward, including the incubation room, has improved to make it more child-friendly.

Records at the warehouse are now orderly arranged and piled, which means that records are safer and access to them can now be easily done.

The CCMC management has started to work on security problem. A budget for the repair of the damaged hospital fence at its back has already been allocated.

Rama said it will be part of the P21.2 million funding that the city government has granted to CCMC. With the fund, Rama ordered for the improvement of the drainage system and rehabilitation of other facilities of the hospital.

“We also want to know the things that need further improvement that’s why we have given hospital personnel the chance to voice out and put into writing their recommendations and complaints inside the hospital,” Rama said. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/LPM   (THE FREEMAN)
