Amok hurts four in Toledo City

CEBU, Philippines - A man believed to be under the influence of liquor injured four persons inside a videoke bar in sitio Tunga, barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City last Sunday at past 4 p.m.

The suspect identified as Dante Castillano, of legal age, and a resident of the place, stabbed two men in the abdomen. The victims were identified as Alberto Ravanes, 37, and Ricardo Basillote, 26.

Castillano then reportedly stormed into the store of one Felicidad Rabago, 55, and, without any provocation, stabbed her too, hitting her in the leg.

Castillano did not spare Rabago’s minor son who was also inside the store that time. The boy sustained a stab wound on his chest.

The victims were rushed to the Toledo City District Hospital but were later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

SPO3 Gil Lastimosa of the Toledo City Police Station said they are still determining whether the motive for the crime has something to do with a quarrel over the videoke microphone or of the choice of song.

It was learned from Lastimosa that the suspect was drinking with his 60-year-old father, Tito Castillano, and his brother-in-law inside the videoke bar when a trouble ensued between him and the two other men who were also drinking in another table. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
