CEBU, Philippines – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-7 will start distributing educational materials on air quality management to schools and universities to increase awareness among the youth.
DENR-7 has recently partnered with the private sector for support and they were able to produce 115 tarpaulins printed with basic information on global warming and its factors as well as advice on how to keep the air clean and breathable.
The NEC Telecom Philippines Inc. sponsored the printing of the tarpaulins which is part of the company’s Make-a-Difference Drive participated by all NEC employees.
DENR-7 Regional executive director Leonardo Sibbaluca said they hope to tap more members of the private sector to help them in the advocacy to raise awareness for air quality management.
After distributing materials to schools, DENR-7 will start distributing to offices and establishments.
Sibbaluca said that DENR has to call all the sectors of society to promote their drive because their mission is not attainable by one body alone but through a concerted effort from everybody.
DENR once more reminded the public of the irreversible effects of global warming on the environment.
Through air quality management, Sibbaluca said many lives will be saved in this country which has been declared as one of the countries most vulnerable from the impact of global warming due to its archipelagic nature. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
