100 marijuana plants uprooted in Carmen

CEBU, Philippines - More than 100 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted by police yesterday morning in the mountain barangay of Liboron in the town of Carmen.

Carmen Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Carlos Reyes, Jr. said their operation stemmed from a report from members of the Barangay Intelligence Network about the plantation.

Reyes, who led the raiding team, said they uprooted 114 marijuana plants and seedlings.

The police had a hard time locating the area, which is 25 kilometers away from the national road, because it was slightly raining that time and there was zero visibility.

However, the police were not able to arrest any persons who could be behind the plantation.

The uprooted marijuana plants are now in the custody of the town police. — Niña G. Sumacot/LPM   (THE FREEMAN)
