Dispatcher fights for life after shooting in Colon

CEBU – A 23-year-old man remains in critical condition after he was shot by an unidentified assailant in front of a fast-food outlet along Colon Street in barangay Kalubihan this city at around 6 p.m. the other day.

The victim, identified as Mark Sayson, a resident of Puntod Alaska in barangay Mambaling, is said to have earned a living as a public utility jeepney dispatcher on Colon.

The perpetrator was described to be a short man and said to be wearing black shirt and short pants.

Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene one spent shell of a .45 caliber pistol.

Florida Bersano, the live-in partner of Sayson, told the police that the victim was calling out for passengers in the said place when the suspect came and suddenly shot him.

The victim was hit in the left portion of his jaw. The slug exited through the back of his head.

Taking advantage of the commotion, the suspect fled from the crime scene. Some bystanders rushed the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center.
