29 thieves collared during Sinulog week

CEBU - The Cebu City police arrested a total of 29 snatchers and pickpockets, during a one-week operation conducted until the Sinulog grand parade the other day.

This was revealed yesterday by Task Force Sinulog 2009 commander and Cebu City Police Office chief, Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador.

Comendador said that five of the suspects are from Davao, while another one is from Ormoc City. The others are all residents of Cebu City.

Many of them have records for theft cases with the Theft and Robbery Section.

The CCPO chief also thanked the public for cooperating with them in either asking their assistance or reporting suspicious persons during the Sinulog festivities.

Comendador revealed that they have arrested more suspects this year compared to last year’s less than 20 suspects. They also confiscated more intoxicating liquor this year.

TRS chief Sr. Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes said while more snatchers and pickpockets were arrested this year they are glad that there were no reported incidents involving fraternities. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV   (THE FREEMAN)
