Two killed in shooting

Cebu - Two men were killed while another is still under observation in the hospital after they were shot around 5 a.m. yesterday in sitio Santo Nino, barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Police identified the fatalities as Roel Agcol, alias “Bugad”, and Ronello Abellar, a former member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit, both residents of the said place.

The one under observation at the emergency room of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center is Michael Turno, 29, of G. Seno St., brgy. Mabolo.

According to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, Agcol was sleeping on a bamboo bed outside a store in the said place while Abellar and Turno were drinking not far away when six men suddenly appeared and two of them fired at the victims.

The assailants immediately fled after the incident. Agcol was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while Abellar was killed on the spot.

One of the suspects, John Louie Cabaltera, 26, of sitio Mahayahay, was arrested after a hot pursuit operation, while his five other accomplices are still at large. — Nina Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
