Cebu City acting mayor Michael Rama yesterday warned to revoke the business permits of two lechon dealers in barangay Banilad if the families running the businesses would not settle their ongoing conflict.
Rama yesterday directed city police director Patrocinio Comendador to find means for the owners of Helen’s Lechon and Methus Lechon to end their conflict peacefully before it could erupt to more bloody encounters.
“Kihanglang ipatawag niya ang mga sakop niining maong pamilya aron sabotan unsaon pagsulbad nga malinawon niining kagubot nga naglambigit sa ilang mga sakop. Kon dili nila makaya, ako andam nga moapil kon gikinahanglan,” Rama said.
Reports had it that the series of shooting incidents in barangay Banilad for the past year until early this year involved members of the families running the two businesses.
The first incident happened on December 31, 2007 when Arrol M. Adolfo, 40, the proprietor of Methus Lechon, was shot to death by a certain Junard Ramin.
Eight months later last August 2008, Ramin’s father, Leonardo, was shot at by a man on board a motorcycle. At that time, he was lucky that the bullet only grazed the tip of his nose. However, another bullet hit him in the neck during a second attack last December 19.
Last New Year’s Eve, three men on board a motorcycle fired at Methusael Inesola, the 39-year old owner of Methus Lechon, while he was attending to a customer.
Police subsequently arrested Diosdado Ortega and Jackie Trazona while the third suspect, a certain Yolie Ramas, remain at large. — Rene U. Borromeo/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
