Police bump into marijuana plantation, arrest six workers

Cebu - Six persons were placed under arrest after police accidentally bumped into a marijuana plantation in Alcoy town late evening last Monday.

SPO1 Primitivo Carunggay of the Alcoy police said that past 10 p.m. last Monday, he and his team were passing sitio Liptong heading towards sitio Bulalakaw to provide security to an ongoing fiesta celebration when a resident in the area approached them and told them that they were actually passing through a marijuana plantation.

Carunggay said they immediately checked on the information and confirmed that the area they were passing through was indeed a marijuana plantation. They also arrested six plantation workers and uprooted 185 marijuana stalks.

Those arrested were Timothy Amaca, Felix Coronel, Neneng Coronel, Arnold Antig, Antonio Antig, and Aneceto Siciban, all residents of sitio Liptong.

The marijuana stalks are now being subjected to laboratory examination but police are still identifying the owner of the plantation.
