CEBU - Landco Development Corporation, developer of the Monterrazas de Cebu project in barangay Guadalupe, yesterday sad they will be appropriating 10 hectares in barangay Sapangdaku for socialized housing in the succeeding years.
Michael Reyes, Landco Vice President for Visayas and Mindanao, said they are already in the planning stage of the socialized housing project and that eight households composed of 14 families from sitio Dakit, which was affected by the ongoing Monterrazas de Cebu development, will be given priority.
“Before they are merely squatting in the land, now we are relocating them for free and later on give them a chance to eventually have their property,” Reyes said.
Reyes said they would also coordinate with the city government to identify the city’s own nominees for socialized housing beneficiaries.
Big housing projects like Landco’s Monterrazas de Cebu are obliged to set aside 10 percent of the total land area developed for socialized housing in any site in the Philippines, other than the actual site of the project.
