CEBU - A farmer was shot dead while his 12-year-old daughter is now fighting for her life after they were shot by a neighbor around 5:30 p.m. last Monday in barangay Linut-ud, Argao town.
PO1 Berni Lao of the Argao Police Station identified the farmer as Leonardo Dana, 38, of barangay Manlapay, Dalaguete town. His daughter claimed they were shot by a certain Cornelio Empic.
Lao said the girl narrated that she and her father were on their way home after working in their ricefield when the alleged assailant, who was waiting by the road, shot at them with a 12-gauge shotgun.
Leonardo was hit in the chest while his daughter was injured. The alleged assailant immediately escaped on a motorcycle.
Police said motorcycle-for-hire drivers later brought to them the motorcycle allegedly used by the assailant, a Rusi motorcycle with license plate no. 8756-GG, which had been abandoned in barangay Talo-ot.
