Cops may face charges for abandoning posts

CEBU - The chief of police of the San Francisco Police Station in Camotes Island and the policemen under him are facing possible charges if it will be proven that they abandoned their posts last November 12, 2008.

Provincial Police Director Carmelo Valmoria said yesterday charges for simple and serious negligence of duty can be filed against Sr. Insp. Ciriaco Larrobis, the station’s chief, and his 12 men if the explanations they have submitted will be found insufficient to disprove the allegations of a municipal hall employee that no one was in the police station last November 12 when she sought for assistance.

The policemen under Larrobis include SPO4 Bernabe Coyoca, SPO1 George Yap, PO3 Raul Janero, PO3 Ananias Mortejo, PO1 Edward Keith Barrameda, PO3 Francisco Codiñera, PO1 Glendale Cabañero, PO1 Jose Duage Incio, PO1 Roldan Teongson, PO1 Mamirod Caracima, PO1 Winston Ybañez, and PO1 Russel Ramominda.

Larrobis had explained that he was escorting a crime suspect on that day. Explanations of the other policemen were not divulged.

Valmoria said they are now assessing the explanations of the respondents. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
