CEBU - Policemen have arrested two men after they were caught in possession of firearms in Liloan town last Sunday.
PO3 Ramir Maglasang of the Liloan police noticed Edmond Macaraig, 25, reportedly acting suspicious while walking past his post, past 8am. When Maglasang called Macaraig’s attention, the latter reportedly tried to evade by riding a tricycle.
Maglasang then rushed to stop the tricycle and subsequently inspected Macaraig’s bag where he found two .38 caliber revolvers, a hand grenade, five live ammunitions, and a wig. Maglasang then arrested Macaraig and brought him to the Liloan Police Station.
There, it was found out that Macaraig is a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity and that he has been detained at the Lapu-Lapu City jail for illegal possession of ammunition.
Past 9 p.m. on the same day, members of Liloan Traffic Command Reaction Unit arrested 24-year-old Marlon Batucan Cañete after an unlicensed .22 magnum revolver and four live ammunitions were found in his possession during a checkpoint.
Cañete is a resident of barangay Guiwanun in Compostela town.
Formal charges are being readied against Macaraig and Cañete.
