CEBU – A man landed at the hospital when he accidentally shot himself while playing with his unlicensed firearm last Friday night at sitio Cambontan, barangay Bulinawan, Carcar City.
The victim, Alfredo Quijano, 38, was allegedly intoxicated and toying with his firearm when it suddenly fired and the bullet went through his thigh.
Investigating police officers led by PO3 Joeville Bacarisas tried to convince the victim and his wife to voluntarily turn over the firearm but they denied having one.
The police are doing further interrogation on the victim who is now confined at Carcar City District Hospital.
Meanwhile, a man was injured while his companion was able to escape unscathed when three unidentified motorcycle-riding men fired at them in barangay Lamintak Norte, Medellin town last Friday afternoon.
Orlando Lanurias, 32, was rushed to Verallo District Hospital in Bogo city but was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment after he was hit in the right chest and a bullet grazed a portion of his forehead.
His companion, Danilo Bulado was able to evade the two shots and ran away for safety.
Initial investigation disclosed that Lanurias was on the hammock while Bulado was inside a hut when the three assailants arrived on board a motorcycle.
Upon their arrival, two back riders allegedly disembarked from the vehicle, went inside the hut and suddenly shot Bulado twice but missed.
Lanurias, who was on the nearby hammock was hit twice but still managed to run inside his house that is located a few meters away.
After the attack, the assailants went back to their XRM motorcycle, with no plate number, and sped off towards the south direction. The motorcycle driver was allegedly wearing a bonnet mask to conceal his identity.
Responding officers immediately responded in the crime scene after informed by barangay captain Federico Padabat and recovered four empty shells of .45 caliber pistol.
PO3 Paquito Son said that some elements of their police station visited the victim at the VSMMC yesterday for a follow up investigation to determine the motive of the shooting. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
