Woman and daughter bludgeoned

CEBU – A woman and her 14-year-old daughter are now in the hospital after an alleged drug dependent barged into their house in the mountain barangay of Tagba-o and bludgeoned them with a piece of wood around 5 a.m. last Friday.

Almirante Arcilla, 29, was subsequently arrested by barangay tanods but Eulogia Bueno, 35, and her eldest daughter, Em-em, remain confined at the Cebu City Medical Center.

The girl is reportedly in serious condition.

City police Homicide Section chief Mario Monilar said a complaint for frustrated murder will be filed against Arcilla tomorrow. The suspect is now detained at the Camp Sotero Cabahug stockade.

“Amo ni siya nga pasakaan og kaso nga frustrated murder karong Lunes. Nag-andam pa mi sa mga supporting documents,” Monilar said.

Monilar said the girl sustained more injuries because she reportedly tried to fight back.

The piece of wood that Arcilla allegedly used in attacking the victims has been recovered and will be used as evidence against him before the city prosecutor’s office.

Arcilla reportedly underwent drug rehabilitation and was released a few years ago. The victims’ family is asking the police to retain Arcilla behind bars to prevent him from committing more serious offenses.  — Rene U. Borromeo/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
