Two fires damage P2 million worth of properties

CEBU - A man sustained severe burns while more than P1.4 million worth of properties and goods went up in smoke when two separate fires hit Cebu province last Thursday.

In Alegria town, Rafael Cervisio was severely injured when he tried to save some of his family’s belongings from their burning house. He was rushed to Reinhard Wertgin Memorial Hospital in Alegria where he is currently being treated for burns and fractures.

Reports said a fire gutted down the residence of Rafael and Evelyn Cervisio at around 1 a.m. at sitio Candabong, barangay Sta. Filomena.

The alarm was received by PNP Txt Hotline which was then forwarded to Alegria Police Station for action.

According to Alegria Police, Rafael was severely injured when he tried to save some of their personal belongings.

The cause of fire, which was put out in 20 minutes, is still being determined. The police pegged the damaged at P250,000.

Another fire incident damaged more than P1 million worth of properties in barangay Tangil, Dumanjug town past 7 p.m.

Police said the fire, which started from a copra dryer in the house of Ceasar Tan, ate up the entire house, bodega, and a truck loaded with copra.

With the help of the local residents, fire fighters were able to put out the fire in an hour.
