CEBU - A man allegedly bludgeoned his live-in partner dead before electrocuting himself to death in sitio Sta. Ana, barangay Poblacion, Toledo City last Thursday night.
Residents of sitio Sta. Ana, were awakened by a foul burnt smell around 7 a.m. yesterday and found the charred body of 57-year-old Beato Macapas in his auto shop.
Near his body was the corpse of Analie Merca, 28, who had been his live-in partner for eight years. Both were married but separated from their respective partners.
SPO2 Carmelito Hornales said the neighbors heard two gunshots past 10 p.m. Thursday.
A .22 cal. revolver was found in a cabinet but neither fatality had gunshot wounds although Merca appeared to have been killed after being struck in the head with a blunt object.
The police believe that after killing Merca, Macapas electrocuted himself by attaching a wire to one of his machines and gripping the positive and negative charges.
Near Macapas’ body was a suicide note, telling his wife and two children not to blame Merca for their sad fate as well as asking them to refund the customers who were suppose to have their vehicles repaired in his shop.
Hornales said Merca was believed to have died of internal hemorrhage but an autopsy has yet to be conducted.
According to a relative interviewed by Balitang Bisdak, the couple had been living together for eight years but was not married because of their previous marriages.
At the funeral parlor yesterday morning, only the wife of Macapas was there but refused to be interviewed. The husband of Merca did not show up.
Jealousy was seen as the motive of the incident as the couple reported constantly quarreled over Merca’s American chat mate. — Ferliza C. Contratista/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
