Mandaue City road accidents injure two

CEBU - Two men were injured in separate accidents along North Road in Mandaue City yesterday dawn.

Fredo Teguilo, 59, a resident in Labogon, Mandaue City, suffered head injuries after the van driven by a certain Matthew Layson hit him while he was crossing the road on his way home. Teguilo was believed to be under the influence of liquor when the accident happened.

Layson, a driver of MGV resort based in Medellin town, was transporting some hotel guests to a subdivision in Mandaue City when the incident happened. 

Teguilo was brought to the Mandaue City District Hospital while Layson voluntarily surrendered to the traffic police. Layson said he would give financial support to Teguilo.

“Paglabang pa niya, lahos-lahos lang gyud, pag-abante nako nidiretso gihapon siya, mora man gyud siya og nakaimon” Layson said.

Several minutes later, another accident involving a taxi and a motorcycle occurred near the Gaisano Metro Mandaue.

Romulo Noval, 23, a resident of Guadalupe, Cebu City was making a U-turn with his motorcycle when he got hit by the taxi driven by a certain Elvonie Matonio, a resident of Liloan, Cebu. The taxi was heading towards the mall at that time.

Noval suffered injuries in the head and in other parts of his body and was immediately taken to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. Matonio surrendered to the Mandaue City police. — Ramil V. Ayuman/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
