CEBU - For a budget of P16.8 million, the new Cebu City Police Office headquarters at Camp Sotero Cabahug will soon become a “world-class and tourist-oriented police building.”
This was announced by Police Regional Office-7 director Ronald Roderos to the media yesterday during the 26th anniversary of National Law Enforcement Coordinating Council, which was attended by Philippine National Police director general Avelino Razon Jr.
The budget for the construction of the CCPO building will be sourced from the P10 billion five-year budget for the PNP Modernization Program approved by President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo.
Roderos said that the proposals and other matters regarding the construction have yet to be approved by PNP authorities before Razon retires on 29 this month.
It is not yet known as to when the construction starts. But Roderos pointed out that the groundbreaking will take place before Razon retires from his post.
Roderos also said that all units of Camp Sotero Cabahug will be replaced except for the health and dental centers which are donated by the Cabahugs.
Furthermore, the new CCPO building will have an entrance facing the Cebu Business Park.
Meanwhile, the Cebu City government yesterday pledged to donate P5 million for the modernization of the city police office. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot with Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
