Fire burns down 4 houses in Asturias

CEBU - Properties totaling P650,000 were consumed by fire in two separate incidents in Asturias town yesterday morning.

The first incident occurred 7:30 am in sitio Daang Lungsod, barangay Santa Lucia where a fire razed a house owned by a certain Rufo Hotohot.

Hotohot’s blind wife also suffered minor burns and had to be brought to the district hospital in the neighboring town of Balamban. The house was estimated to cost P50,000.

Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the fire that occurred in barangay San Roque razed three houses owned by sisters Isabelita Jayme, 57; Erlinda Diamada, 63; and Roselyn Lacaba, 43.

The fire, which occurred around 11:30 am, reportedly started from the house of Isabelita. Initial investigation revealed the fire was caused by electrical misuse.

Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the adjacent houses, as firemen were quick to put it out. Nobody was reported injured but damage to property was pegged at P600,000. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
