Man goes amok, stabs woman

A 39-year-old woman was reportedly stabbed by her neighbor with a bolo in sitio Millennium, barangay Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City, last Saturday evening.

Flormie Tabar, a resident of the said place, suffered stab wounds in her abdomen and left arm after she was attacked by suspect Panfilo “Poloy” Respicio, 50.

Police said an angry Respicio was seen brandishing a bolo and challenging neighbors to a fight.  At first, Respicio chased a certain John Andrade but Andrade was able to run for safety and hide.

The suspect instead turned his ire on the woman. This time, he ran after her, then caught up with her, and stabbed her several times in the abdomen and left arm.

Residents who were alerted by the commotion cornered the suspect and managed to disarm him.  Meanwhile, the victim was rushed by her relatives to the hospital.

Respicio was then turned over to the responding policemen from the Pardo police station who then locked him up at the detention cell pending the filing of charges today.

Homicide investigators led by SPO4 Alex Dacua learned from the kin of the suspects that prior to the incident the suspect was reportedly behaving oddly.

His strange behavior was believed to have been triggered by a family problem.  Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
