A 17-year-old boy was stabbed dead while attending a benefit dance Sunday night, the eve of the fiesta of barangay Tiguib in Argao.
The teenager, identified only as PJ Mamugay, sustained a stab wound to his left chest. He was rushed by his companion to a hospital but the physician there declared him dead on arrival.
Argao policeman, SPOI Jaime Mendoza, said the attack occurred right on the dance floor but the assailant quickly fled from the scene.
Meanwhile, in another Sunday stabbing incident in sitio Puthaw, barangay Loong in Tabogon, a man and his father-in-law were wounded when they attacked each other with knives after a heated argument during a drinking spree inside the house of the latter.
Joseph Allan Solero, suffered stab wounds in the chest and abdomen, and was rushed to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, while his father-in-law, Maximo Polosan, 59, had a stab wound in the stomach, and was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center.
A police report stated that the two got into an argument, which led Polosan to draw a 5-inch kitchen knife and stab Solero. Solero managed to grab the knife and use it to stab also his father-in-law.
“Nag-ilugay man ni sila sa kutsilyo,” PO3 Sonny Ceniza of the Tabogon Police Station told The FREEMAN.
Ceniza said the argument was about Solero’s sibling whom Polosan accused of cutting trees in their farm. Solero defended his brother.
Ceniza said the relatives of Solero have not yet decided whether to file a case against Polosan for the attack. — Joy Kareen T. Saliente/RAE
