A complaint for murder was filed yesterday against the man who allegedly shot dead the British husband of his paramour two weeks ago in Minglanilla town.
Members of the Minglanilla police led by Sr. Insp. Romeo Santander filed the complaint before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutors Office against Jude Bullacer Dayota of sitio Caimito, barangay Inayawan, Cebu City. Two other unidentified men were also included in the charge sheet.
Dayota was positively identified by a security guard who happened to pass by during the shooting on the evening of June 24 in barangay Lipata, Minglanilla.
Crisanto Arante, a security guard assigned to the Gillamac Marketing Tabunok branch, said he was on his way to the Minglanilla public plaza to meet a textmate. While riding a multicab, he heard a gunshot.
When he came to check he said he saw Dayota had shot a foreigner whom he later found out from media reports was Luke Issacs, a Briton.
He said he recognized Dayota because the suspect purchased a motorcycle through installment from the branch he was assigned to and it was Issac’s wife who stood as co-maker of the agreement. He went on to say the motorcycle was repossessed by the company after the suspect failed to pay his monthly amortization.
In their joint-affidavit attached to the complaint, Santander and Sr. Insp. Ernesto Navales said that the wife refused to cooperate in the investigation.
While they suspect the wife may have knowledge about the motive of the killing of her husband she was not included in the complaint.
