Police arrested a soldier for allegedly toting a gun at people in a bus stop in sitio Midway, barangay Catmon Daan, Catmon town last Friday.
Sr. Insp. Alvin Balio identified the soldier as PFC John Arc Bondoc, 37, a resident of barangay 8 in the municipality of Tuburan. It was learned that he is a member of the 79th Infantry Battalion assigned in the town of Siaton in Negros Oriental.
Balio, chief of the Catmon Police Station, said that the suspect was arrested by a policeman residing near the said bus stop identified as PO2 Junillo Jurbina.
The suspect was believed to be drunk at that time and scared the people around him when he reportedly drew a pistol and pointed it at people near him prompting them to seek police assistance.
Jurbina, who was at home that time, immediately responded and asked the soldier to surrender, finding out later on that Bondoc carried two pistols.
As Bondoc failed to show the licenses of the said guns, Jurbina arrested him and took him to the Catmon Police Station.
Aside from the pistols, the police found another two magazines for .45 caliber pistols, four live ammunitions and a silencer.
Police would be filing charges for illegal possession of firearms against the suspect tomorrow. — Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
