A man was stabbed to death by his neighbor in barangay Taytay, Danao City while they were drinking liquor.
Police said the victim, Alfonso Roble, 39, was stabbed dead by a certain Romeo Lumapas around 3 a.m. yesterday.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim and the suspect were drinking together with several other people in front of a neighbor’s house before the incident happened.
Suddenly Lumapas approached and stabbed Roble with a sharp instrument several times for still no clear reasons.
Roble was stabbed once in the left elbow, twice in the right side of his chest and again in the left side of his chest.
The victim was rushed immediately to the Danao City District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
SPO4 Teofilo Deguilmo of the Danao City Police Station disclosed that the weapon used in the incident has not yet been recovered.
“Wala pa gyud na-recover ang weapon, so we do not know whether kutsilyo ba ni siya or unsa. Ongoing pa ang investigation,” Deguilmo told The Freeman.
Deguilmo further said that the suspect, who fled after the incident, eventually surrendered at the Danao City Police Station at around noon yesterday.
A follow-up investigation is still being conducted to determine the motive of the suspect, who is now detained at the Danao City Police Station.— Joy Kareen T. Saliente/BRP
