Man loses phone, gets stabbed

A man is now in critical condition after he was stabbed in barangay Tutay, Pinamungajan town the other day by one of four men when he fought back the moment his mobile phone was snatched from him.

Christopher Cuizon, 20, a resident of barangay Pandakan, Pinamungajan landed at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center after he was stabbed in the back with an ice pick.

The suspects, identified as Teresito Baraga, Dante Dejito, Michael Layagan and Brian Nebris, all residents of barangay Sta. Cruz, were arrested in a follow-up operation. They are now detained at the Pinamungajan Police Station.

In an interview with The FREEMAN, PO2 Dominic Pantajo said the victim was texting his cousin, Renerio, that he was waiting for him along the national road in the town when one of the four suspects suddenly grabbed his cell phone.

Cuizon wrestled with the perpetrator and was able to grab his phone back.

“Misukol gyod ang biktima, iyang gi-ilog og balik iyang cellphone. Nakiglayog gyod siya,” Pantajo said.

But another man stabbed him in the back with an ice pick. When Renerio arrived minutes later, he learned his cousin, Cuizon, was hurt.

Cuizon was then taken to the Pinamungajan District Hospital but was later referred to the VSMMC.

“Gi-transfer kay operahanan man kuno ang biktima, nagtaup man sa iyang buko-buko ang ice pick,” Pantajo said.  Garry B. Lao/MEEV
