Bogo police seize guns for Masbate

For the second time since last month, the police Tuesday morning confiscated more illegal firearms from the port of barangay San Vicente in Bogo City that were about to be shipped to Masbate.

Bogo City policeman PO1 Ryan Alarde said the public utility pump boat was about to sail for Masbate when the police, headed by SPO4 Florencio Ynot, with four anti-crime volunteers ordered the boat to be inspected first.  In the course of the inspection, the police found and seized three .357 caliber guns, covered with cloth, and placed with other personal belongings inside a traveling bag.

Alarde said there were no serial numbers of guns, and authorities believed that these came from Danao City and were to be delivered to Masbate. The guns are now in custody of the Bogo City Police.

None of the passengers claimed ownership of the bag, and the police believed that the real could have abandoned it and left the place upon learning of the police inspection.

Last April, the police had confiscated from the same port guns of various caliber that were also to be shipped to Masbate. — Rizzi Ann Cerera, UP Tacloban CommArts-intern/RAE
