One man was killed while six others were hurt when the vehicle they were riding went out of control and hit in a tree in barangay Abugon, Sibonga town, last Tuesday.
Police said the driver of the Isuzu Forward truck identified as Leonardo Nepumuceno, lost control of the vehicle it was traversing a right curve and hit a tree the swerved, facing the way it came.
The truck was carrying farmers and their vegetables to the city from barangay Caleriohan, Dalaguete town, when the accident happened at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Killed on the spot was 40-year-old Esperegion Queredo, a resident of Caleriohan, Dalaguete.
Those injured were identified as Apolonia Quibedo, 39; Marcial Asenjo, 45 and Cristita Quivedo, 45, all of Caleriohan, Dalaguete; Allan Dicdican, 33 of Lanao, Dalaguete; Danilo Neri, 37 of Naljo, Dalaguete; and Andres dela Peña, 18 of Mantalongon, Dalaguete.
They are now confined at the Carcar District Hospital.
Five other people were also hurt but did not have to be confined at the hospital because their injuries were not serious.
